The Co-op fulfills its 115-year old mission as a non-profit corporation by returning all profits to its owners - the students, faculty and staff of the University. Since 2000, The Co-op has given over 32 million dollars to UT in the form of gifts, grants and rebates.
Application deadline extended until Monday February 18th at 12:00 PM.
Every year two UT students are elected in a campus-wide election to serve as representatives of the University of Texas student body on the University Co-op Board of Directors. These positions are only for the Co-op Board of Directors, and are not part of The University of Texas student government. This year the positions are open to all full time students at UT Austin. Pre-requisites for Board eligibility include maintaining full-time student status for the two-year term which starts May 2013. These positions share equal responsibility and voting rights with the two students, the four UT faculty members, and two independent members already serving on the Board.
This is a great opportunity for interested students to become actively involved in directing a multi-million dollar business

Here is what our current student Board Members say about serving on the Co-op Board:
"Serving on the Board of Directors has been one of the most rewarding experiences I've had at UT. This opportunity has allowed me to directly apply what I'm learning in class and see how it translates into the business world. We handle every issue- large and small, and then collaboratively strategize the best ways to move forward. Each of the members contributes something unique and I am always amazed to see how all of our different perspectives help us lead the company in a positive direction. Serving on the Board has been an honor and a privilege; the experience is unparalleled to any other campus organization. - Holli Wertheimer "
The University Co-op board is incomparable to other leadership positions on campus. It provides insight into the challenges of business, the excitement of new developments, the honor of working with incredible management and brilliant board members and an experience that is applicable throughout your life. Unlike the bureaucracy of campus, the University Co-op operates with a bias for action which allows you to have direct impact both on the University and the Co-op during your term. From opening the market to adding a new student organization rebate, the Co-op has undergone a lot of change since I began and the next few years will continue to be exciting.- Alex Jones
Serving on the Univeristy Co-op Board of Directors has significantly enriched my college experience at The University of Texas. It is an extremely unique opportunity for students to participate in something that is drastically different than all student organizations. It provides students like me the experience of working with senior executives and top faculty. It also provides insight into the innerworkings of The Univeristy and the opportunity to work towards making our school a better places for students, faculty and staff. It is an experience that will continue to benefit me for many coming years. - Elizabeth Stone
