Graduation Etiquette:

Invitations should be mailed out to arrive at least two weeks before the ceremony. Announcements may be mailed out anytime, before or after the ceremony.

The larger envelope with the gummed flap is the outer envelope. It should be hand-addressed by you personally and contain minimal abbreviations. If you like, you can write your return address on the back of the envelope.

The smaller envelope without the gummed flap is the inner envelope that holds your announcement. Write the name(s) of the person(s) to whom you are sending the announcements as if you are addressing them in person. For example: Grandma and Grandpa, John and Mary

Place the announcement in the inside envelope with the folded edge up and the front of the announcement facing the envelope flap. Do not tuck the flap inside the envelope.

Insert the smaller envelope inside the larger one with the flaps facing the same way. Seal the outer envelope and mail it first-class.

A graduation announcement is a way of informing your family and friends of an important milestone in your life. It is not considered a request for gifts, so send to all who have a personal interest in your graduation.
