Hey UT25, Welcome to the University Co-op!

You’re probably wondering, what exactly is the Co-op. Are we just a college bookstore, are we just a place to get a Longhorn tee shirt? Turns out we are more than just a store.

The Co-op is a Tradition

For 125 years the Co-op has been there to help and meet the need for UT Austin students. Created by future UT President, Dr. William J. Battle, our mission is to positively impact every student at The University of Texas at Austin with opportunities and services to foster student’s growth and help Longhorns change the world.

Nearly every Longhorn has passed through our doors. From graduation to game days and t-shirts to textbooks, we are a part of the Longhorn experience and tradition, touching every important moment in the Longhorn life.

What sets us apart

Most college bookstores are run by for-profit corporations, we however are an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit. What that means is we are run by a board of directors that is made up of student faculty and staff at the University of Texas at Austin. These board of directors represent our owner’s voice

Supporting UT Students, Faculty and Staff

Each year, we support the Longhorn Center of Academic Equity's College-to-Career internship program by offering first-generation students two-year paid internships which help them get hands-on experience in their fields.

We have also been identifying and introducing new initiatives to reduce the cost of course materials and expand access for students. (Good news for your wallet) Our awesome marketing director Kate talks more about this in our Textbook 101 Presentation done every Tuesday at 1 during every orientation session!

As you can tell we are more than just a store and aim to not just help and serve students but every Longhorn.

We can’t wait for you to be part of our tradition!
