6 Best Tailgating Recipes

Excited for football season?! We are too! But what is the best part about this season...TAILGATING! And what is the best part about tailgating...FOOD!

Have we grabbed your attention yet?!

As we all know, football season is starting, so we wanted to share a few easy recipes for your tailgate! These dishes range from dips to sliders! Keep reading below for pictures and recipes that will be perfect at your tailgate!

 

1. Guacamole Dip

(Ingredients listed serves 2-4)

What you will need:

  • 2 avocadoes
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice or lemon juice (your preference!)
  • 2 tablespoons to ¼ cup of minced onions (red or green onions!)
  • 1-2 serrano chilis (depending on how spicy you want it) with stems and seeds removed and minced
  • 2 tablespoons of cilantro, thinly chopped
  • A hint of freshly grated black pepper
  • ½ ripe tomato, chopped

Steps:

  • Cut the avocados in half and scoop into bowl (remove flesh and pit)
  • Mash avocado with a fork
  • Add salt and lime juice
  • Add chopped onion, cilantro, black pepper, and chilis
  • Wrap the bowl with plastic and chill in fridge
  • When cooled, add tomatoes before serving
  • Serve with your favorite tortilla chips or pita chips!
  • Tip: Add a kick to your guacamole by adding mangos, strawberries, peaches, or pineapples!

2. Tailgate Hamburger Sliders

(Ingredients listed makes 24 servings)

What you will need:

  • 2 pounds of ground beef
  • 1 envelope of onion soup mix
  • ½ cup of mayonnaise
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 24 dinner rolls

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees
  • Cover a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray
  • Mix the ground beef and onion soup mix in a large skillet (cook until the beef is crumbly and evenly brown)
  • Drain extra grease and remove from heat
  • Stir the mayonnaise and cheese into the ground beef
  • Place the dinner rolls on the baking sheet
  • Spread the beef, mayo, and cheese mixture on the bottom half of each roll
  • Place the tops of the dinner rolls back on
  • Cover with another sheet of aluminum foil sprayed with cooking spray
  • Bake the sliders until the cheese melts (appx. 30 minutes)
  • Serve with any toppings and sides you desire (ex: pickles, ketchup, mustard, more cheese, tomato, lettuce!)

3. Buffalo Chicken Nachos

(Ingredients listed makes 8 servings)

What you will need:

  • Cooking spray
  • ¾ cup blue cheese dressing
  • ½ cup cayenne pepper sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted)
  • 2 cups of shredded, cooked chicken
  • Pack of tortilla chips
  • 1 tomato, chopped
  • ½ cup sliced black olives
  • 1/3 cup diced red onion
  • ¼ cup pickled jalapenos
  • 4 ounces of pre-cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 ¼ cup shredded cheese (Mexican cheese blend)
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack Cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro

Steps:

  • Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees
  • Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil and cooking spray
  • Mix ¼ cup blue cheese dressing, cayenne pepper sauce, and butter in a bowl
  • Blend well, and add chicken
  • Spread tortilla chips over baking sheet
  • Sprinkle all toppings (tomato, olives, onion, and jalapenos) over chips
  • Spread chicken on top of toppings
  • Top with bacon
  • Combine both types of cheeses in a bowl
  • Sprinkle over tortilla chips
  • Bake in oven for about 15 minutes
  • Top with ½ cup blue cheese dressing
  • Top with cilantro

4. 7 Layered Bean Dip

(Ingredients listed makes 56 servings)

What you will need:

  • 1 package of taco seasoning mix
  • 1 can of refried beans
  • 1 pack of cream cheese
  • 1 16 oz. tub of sour cream
  • 1 16 oz. jar of salsa
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 bunch of minced green onions
  • 1 pack of shredded lettuce
  • 1 can of sliced olives
  • 2 cups of shredded cheese

Steps:

  • In a bowl, blend the taco seasoning and refried beans
  • Spread this onto a large serving platter
  • Mix the sour cream and cream cheese in a bowl
  • Spread on top of beans
  • Top with salsa
  • Top with tomato, green pepper, green onions, and lettuce
  • Top with cheese
  • Top with black olives
  • Serve with your favorite tortilla chips

5. Chilli Mac

(Ingredients listed makes 6 servings)

What you will need:

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 can of stewed tomatoes
  • ½ cup of water
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 2 cups of macaroni, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups of shredded cheese

Steps:

  • Cook ground beef, onion, and green pepper in skillet until no pink
  • Add tomatoes, water, and taco seasoning and let simmer for a few minutes
  • Add pasta into the beef and toppings mixture
  • Place pasta and beef mixture into baking dish (leave a little for topping)
  • Add cheese on top
  • Add the rest of the pasta and meat mixture on top
  • Cover with foil
  • Bake in oven for 30 minutes
  • Top with cheese and let cheese melt

6. Philly Cheesesteak Sliders

(Ingredients listed makes 8 servings)

What You Will Need:

  • 1 pound beef round steak
  • Steak seasoning
    • ½ teaspoon paprika
    • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
    • ½ teaspoon onion powder
    • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
    • 1 large green bell pepper
    • ½ teaspoon oregano
    • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
    • ½ teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ large white onion
  • Provolone cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 12 sweet rolls

Steps:

  • Mix the seasoning together
  • Place seasoning on steak, but save a little bit for later
  • Cover and refrigerate for an hour
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  • Cook steak in 1 tablespoon of butter until done
  • Place onions and green peppers in pan and use the remaining seasoning to cook
  • Line a dish with foil paper
  • Place all the bottom halves of rolls in dish
  • Top with steak, onions, and green peppers
  • Top with cheese
  • Butter the top half of rolls
  • Bake until rolls are golden
