The University Co-op Logo

The University Co-op logo is the cornerstone of the University Co-op’s identity system. It is the most immediately recognizable signifier of the Co-op’s brand, and should be used to represent the University Co-op in all of its communications. Using the signature system in a consistent way results in building stronger institutional awareness for the university, helps distinguish us from other peer institutions and promotes the University of Texas in a meaningful and significant manner. It is critical for every user of the signature to use it in accordance with the established brand guidelines.

Logo Usage

Do not create your own artwork for the Co-op logo — get it by downloading from this site or contacting the University Co-op Marketing Team directly. Creating variations or making changes to the University Co-op signature is not encouraged. The Co-op signature consists of three elements: the main text, the header and footer, and the Texas state icon. Each of the individual elements maintains a special relationship to the others and must not be altered.

Clearspace and Minimum Size

It's important to ensure adequate space around the University signature and block signatures in order for them to work best in print and on the web.

University Co-op Email Standards

1. Be concise. Longer messages are difficult to read, and most people will not read them carefully.
2. Include a descriptive, concise subject line. Many people are inundated with emails, so give them a clue as to your content so they can prioritize. Examples of a good subject line include “Meeting request”, “Action points from xyz meeting”, “John Smith customer complaint”.
3. Use the “cc:” field sparingly. Only individuals addressed in the “To:” field are expected to respond. Individuals in the “cc:” field will not be expected to reply unless they truly feel that have a compelling or pertinent piece of information that is of value to the discussion.
4. Start with a greeting (hi, hello, good morning, etc) and end with a closing (thanks, I appreciate your time, best wishest, etc).
5. Proofread every message. Your mistakes won’t go unnoticed by the recipients of your email. Read and re-read your email a few times before sending it off – especially if sending from your phone. Auto correct could turn your message into something completely different than you intended.
6. Respond within 24 hours. If you require more time, let the sender know you’re reviewing the email and when you’ll get back to that person. This includes when the email was accidentally sent to you.
7. Think twice before hitting reply all. Ask yourself, “Do all these other people really need to hear my reply?” If not, reply only to the original writer.
8. Never try to resolve a conflict via email. Back and forth emailing is almost guaranteed to make the situation worse. Pick up the phone, walk down the hall, or set up a time to talk.
9. Use “Out of Office” if you’re going to be out of the office. If you’re going to be out of the office during the workweek.
10. Remember, email is not private. Don’t put anything in email that you wouldn’t “want the whole world to know about.”
